What are the types of houses in Korea?
There are four main types of housing in Korea: "apateu" (아파트, apartment), villa, officetel, and house. An "apateu" is a multi-room unit in a high-rise condominium used strictly for residential purposes. An officetel is a smaller residential unit in a high-rise mixed-use (residential and commercial) building. Villas are low-rise townhouses, while single detached houses are usually found outside the cities. Of these, villas are the cheapest option, but lack standard security services/facilities.

If you choose a villa or officetel, you may encounter terms like "one room", "1.5 room", or "double room." "One room" refers to a studio unit with no separate bedroom, "1.5 room" is a living space with one separate bedroom, and "double room" is a living space with two separate bedrooms. What are good tips for foreign expats?
It's not that difficult to get around because nearly all signs, menus, etc. are also written in English. Even if you can't find any English text, you can always ask around because many Koreans know some basic English.

If you live in Seoul, you can reach virtually anywhere by bus, train, or walking. For example, you can go to Chuncheon by train or Busan by bus or train.

Finally, Korea is very safe. With a very low crime rate, Koreans freely enjoy their nightlife and leave their belongings anywhere without worry. If you're looking for a personal assistant while in Korea, check out

Fortunately, if you are native English speaker, you have a good chance of finding work in Korea because Koreans are passionate about learning English. You can teach English either at a public school or at a private academy called a "hagwon."

If you want to work at a public school, apply to the English Program in Korea (EPIK), which is affiliated with the Ministry of Education. Usually, EPIK hires for two terms each year according to the Korean public school calendar. You can apply directly at an EPIK office in Korea, through an official MOU/MOA organization, or through an official recruitment agency. EPIK official team announced that Korvia consulting will be worked together from Fall 2022 to Spring 2023 as agency partner.
