2. Information we Collect
When you use our service, we collect your account information. You give us your email address or social accounts to sign into our website. When you link an account, you may have on a third-party service (such as Google or Facebook) to your AboutKorea account, AboutKorea collects certain information stored in connection to that third-party account, including your email address and profile picture. By linking your accounts, you authorize AboutKorea to access and use your account on the third-party service in connection with your use of the services. In addition, we collect your birth year and interests to provide customized information.
3. Why we collect and how we use your information
AboutKorea uses the information we collect for the following purposes:
Develop New Services
We develop and expand our services to new categories according to the data we collect from you.
Maintenance & Improve Services
We use your information to understand our service better, and we conduct research and analysis based on your data. We get feedback as “Suggestion” and “Error” by collecting your email address and finding creative ways to improve our service according to your feedback. We also use your information to ensure our services are working as intended, such as tracking outages or troubleshooting issues that you report to us.
4. ID/ Password
Your e-mail address will not be displayed publicly. Instead, we will give you a random nickname which is a combination of a Seoul district name and a Korean dish. If you want to change your default nickname, just click the refresh button. You can change your nickname later in your “My Profile” page.
When you first join AboutKorea, you will start with the basic level “Nongmin”. For more information, please check community guidelines.
For your security, we have set the following rules for password creation:
We strongly discourage passwords that contain easily guessed or obtained personal information such as real names, addresses, phone numbers, nationalities, or dates of birth.
If you forget your password, you can easily set a new one here.
AboutKorea encourages user interaction, and that needs active user accounts. Please help our community thrive by actively using your account. If you do not log in for one (1) year, we will consider your account inactive and delete it accordingly.
AboutKorea values your privacy. We highly recommend changing your password regularly, such as every six (6) months. Please do not use easily guessed passwords.
Please keep AboutKorea a wholesome and friendly community for everyone. We will ban your account completely if you engage in behavior that violates our policies.

Other policy violations will result in a warning notification from the AboutKorea admin. Please ensure that your warnings do not exceed three (3); otherwise, your account will be banned.
5. Data Retention
Information Retained Until You Remove It
You can delete your entire AboutKorea account or selectively delete questions, comments, and bookmarks by using the available tools in our Services. In some cases, rather than provide a way to delete data, we store it for a predetermined period of time. For each type of data, we set retention timeframes based on the reason for its collection.
Enabling Safe and Complete Deletion
When you delete data in AboutKorea, we immediately start the process of removing your personal information. We understand that safe and complete deletion is so important to protect users from accidental loss. Complete deletion of data forms our servers will take (---) from the time of deletion.

If you've ever wanted to learn more about Korea, you've come to the right place! AboutKorea connects you to accurate, top-quality information on the web related to South Korea. Aside from browsing our resources across various categories, you can also create an account to ask real Korean experts anything about their country.
We provide a wide range of websites, articles and YouTube channels under various categories. All the links in AboutKorea are active and verified by the admin.
Also, we provide you a Q&A platform where you can ask and answer questions and build networks with other users who are interested in Korea. You can view the Community Guidelines here.
Our service is protected by copyright, patent and other laws. You will only user this service for your own internal, personal, non-commercial use, and not on behalf of or for the benefit of any third party. Unauthorized use of any logos, domain names or other distinctive brand features is prohibited.
Permission to your content
You can leave the comments and questions in our service. You have your own rights to the content you create. By leaving questions and comments, you give us permission to use your contents to operate and improve our service now and the future including store, display, reproduce.
Some of our services include original AboutKorea content, such as Fast Facts and the Joseon class user levels. You are free to enjoy such content when using our service; however, AboutKorea maintains intellectual property rights over these. Please do not copy or reproduce anything without prior permission.
